Imphal, July 09 2026:
The Liangmai Naga Council, Manipur (LNC-M) has strongly condemned the State Government over the alleged lack of progress in the investigation into the abduction and killing of six Naga men on May 13, 2026, claiming that no arrests have been made even after 57 days.
In a statement, the council said the continued failure to identify and apprehend those responsible has deepened the grief of the bereaved families and eroded public confidence in the rule of law.
The LNC-M said that despite the passage of 57 days, no meaningful action has been taken against those responsible.
It added that those perpetrators continue to roam free while the victims' families continue to await justice and closure.
It further criticised the Government for speaking of peace without ensuring accountability, asserting that "lasting peace cannot exist without justice" .
The council also expressed concern that security forces appeared to be focusing on disrupting peaceful democratic protests instead of pursuing those responsible for the killings, alleging that such actions undermine democratic rights and public trust.
The LNC-M demanded the immediate arrest and public identification of all those involved in the killings, an independent judicial inquiry into the incident and the conduct of the security forces, and an end to the alleged intimidation of peaceful protesters.
It also called for the protection of citizens' democratic rights.
Maintaining that the Government has failed in its fundamental responsibility to protect lives and uphold justice, the council urged the State Government to step down and allow the people to determine the future course of the State.
Stating that justice delayed is justice denied, the LNC-M said it remains committed to pursuing truth, accountability, and justice through peaceful democratic means untile justice is served.
