Lions Clubs organise Mega Health Check-up / Paediatric Cancer Awareness Camp

The Lions Clubs of Imphal Valley, Imphal Valley NextGen, Imphal Global, Imphal North, Imphal City, and Imphal Northern Hemisphere, in collaboration with NHM-NCD and the Directorate of Health Services, Government of Manipur, successfully organised a Multispeciality Mega Health Check-up and Paediatric Cancer Awareness Camp at the historic IMA Market, Khwairamband Bazar, Imphal on Sunday.
The camp held under the leadership of Prof Nongmaithem Romi Singh, PMJF, GMT District Coordinator-I, witnessed an overwhelming response, reaching more than 425 beneficiaries, including women vendors from the three Ima Markets and residents from surrounding localities.
As per a release issued by Lions International District 322D, a team of 18 medical specialists, comprising experts in General Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), Orthopaedics, along with a qualified dietician, provided comprehensive consultations throughout the day, ensuring that essential healthcare services were accessible to underserved communities.
Supported by 42 dedicated health service staff from NHM-NCD and the Directorate of Health Services, the camp offered a wide range of diagnostic and consultation facilities such as blood sugar testing, routine laboratory investigations, ECG, HIV screening, diabetes detection, and TB screening with on-site X-ray facilities.
These services enabled early detection of health issues and provided beneficiaries with immediate guidance for further care.
A Paediatric Cancer Awareness lecture was also delivered, emphasising the importance of early diagnosis, recognising warning signs, and seeking timely treatment to safeguard child health, thereby raising awareness among parents, caregivers, and community members.
The event was graced by Dr N Hemanta Kumar Singh, Director of Health Services, Government of Manipur; and Dr Y Premchandra, State Nodal Officer, NCD, Directorate of Health Services, who commended the collaborative effort in bringing essential healthcare services directly to the community.
Senior Lions leaders, including Past District Governor Haobam Manikumar, M Gojendra, and Th Kesho, also actively participated, encouraging volunteers and engaging with beneficiaries throughout the event.
A total of 54 Lions member volunteers contributed to the smooth execution and impactful delivery of the camp, demonstrating exemplary coordination and dedication to community service.
