RIMS, CRPF mark World Blood Donor Day 2026 with major donation drives

The Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS, Imphal, in collaboration with the State Blood Transfusion Council, Manipur, observed World Blood Donor Day 2026 today at the OPD Complex under the global theme "One Drop of Humanity.
Give Blood.
Save Lives" .

Director, RIMS, attended as chief guest; Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent, as president; and Prof L Rajesh Singh, Dean (Academics), as guest of honour.
Demonstrating commitment both Prof Sunil Kumar and Prof Sanjib donated blood, inspiring participants.
Speaking at the function, Prof Sunil Kumar said each donated unit can save accident victims, mothers with obstetric emergencies, children with blood disorders, and patients undergoing major surgeries or cancer treatment.
He urged the public, especially youth, to become regular voluntary donors.
A blood donation camp at the Department of Transfusion Medicine saw 101 donors from various walks of life.
Certificates of appreciation were distributed and a pledge on regular voluntary donation was administered.
The event was attended by the Dental College Principal, HODs, CAO/FA, nursing officials, staff, students, and CRED and MSS personnel.
Marking the day, the 109 Battalion CRPF organised a voluntary blood donation camp at RIMS under the aegis of M&N Sector.
Supervised by the Commandant, the drive saw enthusiastic participation from personnel of various Coys, local volunteers, and civilians, with RIMS providing medical and technical support.
The 189 Battalion CRPF, Langol, also donated blood at the RIMS Blood Bank today.
Deputy Commandant Jitendra Singh said the drive, held under Commandant Prashant Kumar Sahu, saw over 20 personnel donate to help ease blood shortages in hospitals.
"Protecting the nation and helping citizens in distress is a soldier's duty.
Donating blood for the public gives us immense satisfaction", he said.
Local administration and community leaders lauded both CRPF battalions for their humanitarian initiatives, noting their contribution to public health and welfare alongside maintaining peace and security.
