Imphal, February 12, 2011: The Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) demanded to the state government to distribute the cash incentives to the meritorious students, teachers and school authorities for the last session before the commencement of the Matric and XII standard examinations.

In a press release, the state government distributed the incentives to students who passed X and XII exams in first division and above in the 2008 session.

State government had passed budget for the scheme in 2008 and distributed Rs 3000 each to the students, Rs 1000 to the teachers of the students and Rs 1000 to the school authorities in the same year.

However the scheme did not pursued right from the next session.

Moreover the wave of model schools of the government who erupted like a volcano in the state and soon subsided from the next session.

While the government is not paying attention to the model schools, teachers and the students, the same government is talking about bringing quality education in the state, it added.
