Imphal, October 05 2025:
The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Manipur State Branch, on Sunday organised a felicitation ceremony to honour volunteers from the State and District Branches for their dedicated service during the recent floods that affected several parts of Manipur.
The ceremony held at IRCS Manipur State Branch office in MG Avenue was graced by dignitaries, including IRCS Manipur State Branch vice president Dr RK Nimai, chairman Narendra Ningomba, former chairman Dr Yanglem Mohen and Dr Nevedita Lairenlakpam, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal East and president of IRCS Imphal East District Branch.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nevedita praised the IRCS volunteers for their commitment and unwavering spirit of service to humanity.
She asserted that the IRCS has been playing a vital role in disaster relief and management by providing emergency assistance, medical aid, and training to vulnerable communities across the State.
"The IRCS embodies the spirit of volunteerism through its tireless work alleviating human suffering.
Spreading awareness of this spirit is crucial for fostering civic responsibility and strengthening communities" said Dr Nevedita.
Dr RK Nimai said that volunteerism, as embodied by the Red Cross, is a lifelong commitment rather than a temporary role, with the seven Fundamental Principles serving as a moral compass.
"To uphold this standard, new volunteers must be trained and empowered not just in skills but in the ethical values of the movement", he added.
During the ceremony, IRCS volunteers from Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching District Branches who actively participated in flood relief & rescue operations were honoured with citations and mementos in recognition of their service.
