2-day comprehensive health camp held in remote Ukhrul villages

The All Tangkhul Medicos Association (ATMA), in collaboration with District Health Society, Ukhrul, organised a two-day comprehensive health camp-cum-health awareness programme at Wahong, Old Wahong and Soraphung villages under Jesami block of Ukhrul district.
The three villages, located along the extreme northern border areas adjoining Myanmar and Nagaland, have limited access to healthcare facilities due to their remote location and other logistical constraints.
The medical teams comprised specialists from various disciplines, including surgery, paediatrics, ophthalmology, gynaecology, dentistry, anaesthesiology, forensic medicine, family medicine and Ayush.
Teams from PMJAY, Birth and Death Registration, MACS and NVHCP also assisted the patients and villagers in availing health services and obtaining necessary documentation during the camp.
Altogether, around 260 patients received free medical consultation and treatment during the camp, with 120 patients attended to at Wahong.
20 at Old Wahong and 110 at Soraphung village.
According to Dr Rasomi, minor surgical procedures such as com and cyst excisions, tooth extractions, tooth fillings, etc, were performed.
Pap smear samples were also collected, while services related to PMJAY enrolment, birth and death registration and routine immunization for village children were carried out simultaneously.
As a part of the health awareness programme, Chief Medical Officer, Ukhrul, Dr Kapangring educated the villagers on the importance of health consciousness for a healthy lifestyle.
DTO Dr Hongprachan Hungyo, and ATMA vice president Dr Lucy Duidang also spoke on community health, family planning and tuberculosis.
In addition, ATMA distributed walking sticks to elderly persons, family planning kits to young couples and adult diapers to those in need.
The villagers of Wahong, Old Wahong and Soraphung expressed their gratitude to ATMA for its humanitarian service and timely intervention in strengthening rural healthcare delivery.
