Displaced student Raj Thoudam aims to become civil servant in the future

Raj Thoudam, an internally displaced student from Salem Veng in Churachandpur, who has defeated all odds to secure 7th position in the Higher Secondary Examination, 2025 in Arts Stream wants to become an IFS officer by appearing the Civil Service Examination.
Raj is the youngest son of Sharat Thoudam and Thoudam (Ongbi) Mirabai originally from Salem Veng in Churachandpur district and now taking shelter at his grandparent's house in Toubul Makha Leikai, Bishnupur district.
Speaking to the media persons at his grandparents residence, Raj credited his achievement to his family, school teachers, friends and elders who have supported morally and physically.
Raj stated that while waiting for his Class X result in 2023, his family was forced to flee Churachandpur due to the ethnic violence that erupted in May 3, 2023 and took shelter at Thangjing Sindam Shanglen Relief Camp for a long time and was later shifted at his grandparent's house in Toubul.
Raj shared that he underwent depression for a long time following the violence that shook Churachandpur but remained focused on his studies.
He stated that after securing 87% in the Class X examination, and with a strong determination to become an IFS officer, he pursued his higher studies at UNACCO School Utlou by opting Arts Stream at free of cost as a concession for scoring high marks and also receiving scholarship for his academic excellence.
He stated that his achievement will serve as an aspiration for many IDP students who are facing similar challenges, and urged them to overcome it by working hard with determination and perseverance.
