DC Bishnupur visits relief camps, distributes books and dietary supplements

Bishnupur, July 17 2025:
Deputy Commissioner of Bishnupur, Pooja Elangbam, visited two relief camps -Kwakta Sericulture Training Institute Prefabricated House and Chingu Thangjing Guest House Relief Camp today to assess the situation and interact with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).
DC Pooja Elangbam listened to the grievances and assured the inmates of the District Administration's continued support.
She encouraged them to propose specific livelihood activities they wish to pursue so that timely arrangements can be made.
Life cannot be defined by one incident, she said, urging all to maintain a positive outlook, especially for the sake of the upcoming generation.
In her address, the DC highlighted the importance of availing government schemes like Mission Vatsalya and completing registration on the IDP Management portal.
She advised that failure to enrol by the end of July in the IDP portal would result in the portal freezing, which could block access to various benefits.
She stressed the importance of providing accurate information during registration to avoid future complications.
During the visit, the inmates raised several concerns emphasizing on livelihood programs and income generation.
They also put up concerns like seasonal water shortage, sanitation challenges, and access to government welfare schemes.
The DC also distributed books to support the children and boost their morale.
The books from Pratham Foundation were distributed along with dietary supplements for the inmates.
Speaking to media persons, the DC emphasized the objective of the visit stating that the main aim is to >am and address the challenges people are facing, especially regarding livelihoods and income generation.
The DC also said that collaboration with NGOs and market platforms to sell these products are being explored.
Apart from this, the idea of listing the products on the Government e-Marketplace to reach a national customer base is also considered.
She also cited successful efforts in other camps where sewing machines and looms have been distributed, enabling inmates to begin small-scale production.
ADM Bishnupur Toijam Opendra and concerned officials of the District Administration accompanied the DC in her visit.
