35 epicentres of ASF identified

Dr RK Khogendrajit Singh, Joint Director, Veterinary Department, Government of Manipur, has appealed to the public especially pig farmers to contact/ get in touch with Joint Directors and other officials of the Department for details/ information on African Swine Fever (ASF) .
In a video released by Dr RK Khogendrajit, the Joint Director informed that since the outbreak of ASF in Manipur on October 13, the Department has identified 35 epicentres and surrounding areas covering 432 villages as infected zones.
He shared that the Department has formed Rapid Response Teams to handle, control and take up containment measures including the culling of pigs for the 35 epicentres and surrounding infected zones.
The Joint Director also said that under the National Action Plan, the teams have been sanitising and cleaning farms within the 35 epicentres and infected zones.
"So far, the Rapid Response Teams have destroyed 23,694 Kg of contaminated feed and sanitised 1,647 farms.
The teams have culled a total of 1,781 pigs", he added.
Dr RK Khogendrajit shared that the Department has also been organising training & awareness programmes for farmers on ASF.
