Thoubal, July 08 2023:
The prevailing chaos and unrest in the State will not end as it is driven by India Government's hidden agenda, observed Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) member W Second.
Second was speaking at a protest meet held at Haokha Mamang Leikai under the aegis of Peace and Integrity Committee Haokha Mamang.
COCOMI's coordinator Jitendra Ningomba; , COCOMI member and UCM's secretary Warepam Second; Peace and Integrity Committee Haokha Mamang's advisor Thongam Kumu Devi; convenor Soibam Shyam Meitei and local leaders also attended the meeting and spoke on various subjects.
As the crisis will persist, it is high time all sections of the society stand and fight together, said W Second while addressing the gathering.
W Second said that the ongoing crisis in the State is nothing but a phenomenon orchestrated jointly by Kuki militants under SoO, militants and immigrants from Myanmar and drug cartels.
As such SoO with these militants should not be extended, he said.
COCOMI will never tolerate and accept bids to destroy the State by people who carry out drug trades in the name of insurgency, he said.
The crisis which broke out on May 3 could have been ended within a short span, had the Government of India intended to do so.
But instead of restoring peace and normalcy, it has been indulging in divide and rule policy, he said.
"The silence of the Prime Minister on the issue even after two months is a clear indication of the policy," he added.
It will be hard to tell when this narco-terrorism may end and thus all should join hands to combat these elements until the State gets rid of them fully, he said.
Considering the need of clearly identifying the issue and to discuss the course the people should take, such meets are being held across the state, he added.
He also urged all to have faith in COCOMI which is formed by organisations working towards conservation of the State's integrity.
While regretting mushrooming of organisations every now and then, he also appealed to all to join the movement under the banner of COCOMI to avoid any headlessness in the fight against the narcoterrorists.
COCOMI's co-ordinator Jitendra Ningomba, meanwhile maintained that disunity in this perilous time will be very detrimental for all.
He also took note of the differences and lack of respect among localities and requested all to work unitedly to deal with the evil forces who have managed to unite and present a strong force.
Local youth and Meira Paibis took part in the protest meeting.
