KIM's 31st General Assembly begins with grand ceremony in Sadar Hills

The 31st Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) General Assembly commenced on December 1 at Hengbung village in Sadar Hills, marked by a solemn and well-organised inaugural programme that set the tone for four days of intensive deliberations, cultural reaffirmation, and crucial decision-making for the apex Kuki body.
Delegates from across Kuki-inhabited regions arrived in large numbers, reflecting the unity and administrative strength of KIM .
The General Assembly, which will conclude on December 4.also includes the KIM General Election 2025, scheduled for the final day.
The Assembly opened with the registration of delegates, followed by the official inaugural service.
KUGAA and KNT led the opening worship, after which KIM Speaker Thensei Kipgen presided over the proceedings.
General Secretary Kae Gangte introduced the delegates, signalling the start of a participatory and representative Assembly.
In his welcome address, Thangminlen Kipgen, president of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, stressed the importance of unity and collective responsibility.
The inaugural prayer of dedication was offered by Rev Letkhotong Haokip, Pastor of Hengbung, invoking guidance for the days of deliberation to follow.
The second day, hosted by Alice Ngaipilhing and John Guite, began with morning devotion led by KUGAA and KNT, with KCLF serving as devotion leader.
A major highlight of the day was the Flag Hoisting, Unveiling of the Assembly Monolith, and the Release of the KIM Assembly Souvenir.
KIM President Ch.
Ajang Khongsai hoisted the KIM flag and unveiled the monolith, while Haokholet Kipgen, MLA of Saitu Assembly Constituency, officially released the Assembly souvenir.
Both the monolith and the souvenir were dedicated by Dr T Lunkim.
The day's primary deliberations centred on the amendment of the KIM Constitution and key executive recommendations, marking significant steps in strengthening the organisational framework of Kuki Inpi Manipur.
The third day will begin with Assembly Session III, which will take up multiple agenda discussions of administrative and community importance.
The day's main feature will be the Jangna Dopna Programme, a culturally significant segment reflecting traditional values and identity.
In the evening, the Assembly will hold a special mass prayer service dedicated to the Kuki community, making it the highlight of the night programme.
The closing day on December 4 will feature the long-awaited KIM General Election 2025, during which new office-bearers of the apex body will be elected.
The day will conclude with the formal Assembly Declaration, marking the official closure of the 31st General Assembly.
