Imphal, May 23 2025:
Federal Students' Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK) has stated that absence of specific transfer policy for the Education Department is posing as stumbling block for the students.
In a release, FESOK education & library secretary Soibam Davit, alleging discrepancies in the transfer policy for government higher secondary school teachers, expressed strong resentment that some teachers disregard transfer order, an act amounting to contravention of professional ethics.
While contending that bribery and nepotism have been the hallmark of the Education Department as the teachers generally seek favourable place of posting defying, he cited such acts of lobbying as the main factor for schools in rural areas bereft of teachers.
Owing to shortage of teachers in remote locations, school authorities are forced to hire locals to address the situation, said the secretary.
The FESOK release also expressed serious concern over reluctance of parents and guardians to admit their wards in government higher secondary schools as some teachers tend to undermine their bounden duty of imparting proper education and prioritising regular receipt of salaries.
It is a matter of great shame for the Education Department that parents are not impressed with performance of government schools, Davit said, and appealed to the Department to put in place specific transfer policy so as to effectively address incongruent teacher-pupil ratio in government schools.
