Imphal, May 21 2026:
Taking strong exception to the deafening silence of the Government of India to the abduction of six Naga men and keeping them hostage for so many days, CPI Manipur State Council has urged the Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister to take up concrete and decisive actions.
Speaking to the media today, CPI leader L Sotinkumar recalled the bold statements made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to eradicate all forms of terrorism from the soil of India.
He then pointed out that Manipur today has landed in a very critical situation and the State is facing crippling impacts of terrorism.
Large sections of the people of Manipur have been reeling under the devastating impacts of the violent crisis which erupted on May 3, 2023 .
Now Kuki narco-terrorists have started targeting Nagas too.
Six Nagas captured by Kuki terrorists have not been released.
The Government of India must think over the possible situation in case anything bad happens to the hostages, he said.
If the Centre is sincere, the violence could be brought to an end without much difficulty.
Many big States of India had witnessed similar crises and all of them were resolved following intervention by the Centre, he said.
Sotinkumar demanded the Government of India to declare the Kuki narco-terrorists as terrorist organisations and the SoO agreement must be abrogated immediately.
CPI Manipur State Council spokesman RK Amusana said that the Government of India and the State Government have been portraying the three-year-old crisis as some ordinary incident.
So far, neither the Central Government nor the State Government has publicly punished even a single person responsible for the killings, abductions and burning houses.
There is no point in having a Government if it cannot protect life and property of citizens, Amusana said.
He asked the Government of India and the State Government to act responsibly and take up concrete actions.
