ICAMSE 2026 explores frontiers of multidisciplinary research

The International Conference on Advances in Multidisciplinary Sciences and Engineering (ICAMSE 2026) kicked off at Manipur Technical University (MTU), Imphal today.
The three-day conference, organised by MTU's Department of Basic Sciences, brought together experts from India and abroad.
The inaugural function was graced by dignitaries, including Prof Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General, NIELIT; Prof G Singaiah, Vice Chancellor, Birangana Sati Sadhani Rajyik Vishwavidyalaya, Assam; Dr Sanabam Sujen Singh, Extension Officer (Seismology), North Eastern Council Secretariat; Dr Sandip Rashmikant Oza, retired Scientist and Group Director, ISRO; Prof Manoj Kumar Bhat, DBT Scientist, former Director, BRIC-NCCS, Pune; Prof Miroslav Mladjen Novakovic, Department of Chemistry, University of Belgrade, Serbia; Prof Y Rohen Singh, Department of Mathematics, Manipur University; and Prof W Chandbabu Singh, Vice-Chancellor MTU.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Madan Mohan Tripathi highlighted the importance of ICAMSE-2026 as a platform for knowledge sharing, collaboration, and innovation in science & technology.
He emphasized the importance of emerging technologies like AI, semiconductors, and cybersecurity in driving sustainable development.
He also encouraged institutions, researchers, and students to contribute towards nation-building through innovation.
Prof W Chandbabu outlined MTU's commitment to a needbased, globally focused academic and research strategy, emphasizing relevance to emerging market demands.
Key initiatives include the active implementation of the R&D policy, promotion of internationalisation through collaborations such as an MoU with Swansea University for a proposed twinning degree programme, and the introduction of an adjunct faculty scheme to engage international experts.
He also announced the establishment of a publication division with plans to launch a research journal, integration of multidisciplinary education across engineering, sciences, humanities, and social sciences, and the opening of new departments in Biosciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Biomedical Engineering, positioning MTU as a leading technical institution in the Northeast.
Highlighting the relevance of ICAMSE, Prof Chandbabu noted the submission of over 140 research papers, reflecting strong interest in holistic and multidisciplinary research.
As a part of the function, a compilation of the Conference Abstracts was released and plenary talk was also held.
Faculty members, officials, staff and students of MTU, NEILIT attended the inaugural event.
