Imphal, March 10 2025:
Over 100 loaded trucks are currently stranded at Jiribam on account of the indefinite shutdown called by the Kuki Zo Council (KZC) since March 8 midnight.
Notwithstanding the total shutdown, CRPF troops would be leaving for Jiribam tomorrow (Tuesday) to escort loaded trucks back to Imphal.
Generally CRPF troops escort convoys of loaded trucks on Imphal-Jiribam highway five days in a week from Monday to Friday.
There is no convoy movement on Saturdays and Sundays.
Coinciding with the total shutdown called by KZC in Kuki dominated areas since March 8 midnight, there was no movement of escorted convoys on NH-37 on the last two days being Saturday and Sunday.

There was no convoy movement today too in view of the volatile law and order situation.
On the other hand, over 100 loaded trucks have been stranded at Jiribam.
The stranded vehicles include oil tankers, LPG bullet tankers, trucks loaded with essential commodities, grocery items, FCI rice and cement.
Moreover, around 70 oil tankers and LPG bullet tankers which left Jiribam earlier have been stranded en route to Imphal.
Meanwhile, around 100 empty oil tankers and LPG bullet tankers have lined up at Kangchup, ready to set off for Jiribam.
Reports say that CRPF troops would escort the stranded loaded tankers and trucks from Jiribam to Imphal on Tuesday.
A number of Kuki women came out to the highway and blocked movement of all types of vehicles at Kotlen today.
Because of the blockade imposed by Kuki women on types of vehicles, people of Noney and Tamenglong are facing lots of difficulties.
They have already urged the Government to look into the issue and ensure free movement on NH-37 .
