Sensitisation programme on POSH Act held at Noney

The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), in collaboration with the District Administration, Noney, organised a one-day sensitisation programme on the "Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013" at the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex, Noney district.
The programme aimed to promote awareness about ensuring safety, dignity, and equality for women in workplaces.
The programme sought to educate participants about the roles of the Internal Committee (IC) and the Local Committee (LC), which are responsible for managing cases under the Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal (POSH) Act of 2013 .
Th Tiningpham Monsang, chairperson of the MSCW, and Th Chuongsin Koireng, MSCW member, along with Sharath Chandra Arroju, Deputy Commissioner of Noney, graced the event as presidium members.
The programme was also attended by Stiff Khapudang, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Noney; Nam Sadai Peter, SP Noney; government officials; districtlevel officers; and representatives from various departments.
In her address, chairperson Th Tiningpham Monsang highlighted that the POSH Act, 2013 is a significant step in ensuring women's right to a safe and equitable workplace.
She stressed the need to foster a workplace culture built on respect and equality, where women feel safe to speak up and where leaders stand united against harassment.
She added that a safe workplace is not only a woman's right but also the foundation of a just and progressive society.
Advocate Moses Angam, serving as the resource person, delivered an insightful presentation on the topic "Sexual Harassment of Women at the Workplace." He explained in detail the guidelines, responsibilities, and functions of the Internal and Local Committees for effective implementation of the Act.
The technical session was followed by an interactive discussion, during which participants raised queries that were effectively addressed by the resource person.
The programme concluded with a collective call to implement the POSH Act earnestly to ensure that workplaces across Noney remain spaces of dignity, equality, and safety for all women.
