Communist Party of India (CPI) is a party that has struggled all time.
So, despite being a partner of the ruling Government, it has struggled both within and outside, party's National executive member and Health & Family Welfare Minister P Parijat has stated.
Speaking at the observance of 63rd anniversary of the party at GM Hall here today, Parijat said that the existence of CPI is a struggle and does not believe in begging.
Organised under the aegis of CPI Manipur State Council, the observance function was attended by many party workers and sympathisers.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Parijat further said that despite being a partner of the ruling SPF Government in Manipur, CPI has been struggling for the cause of the poor people and farmers.
Public should analyse representatives of which political parties are actually fighting for their causes, he said, adding that the principle of CPI is not to be found in any other political parties.
As an outcome of the struggle of CPI, the Government of India has given approval to extension of financial assistance upto Rs 1 lakh each to poor patients who are undergoing treatment in the hospital, the Minister announced, adding that all the BPL card holders can avail the benefit of this scheme to be implemented with joint shares of the Centre and the State Government.
Approval has also already been given for setting up one ANM nursing school in all the hill districts as well as General Nursing Schools in four valley districts and two hill districts, the Minister informed the gathering.
He further conveyed that a proposal has also been send to the Government of India for providing Rs 30,000 when any member of the 27,000 BPL card holder families in the country fall sick.
When this approval is approved and implemented, upto five members of in family would be benefited.
Party secretary L Iboyaima, chairman of Control Commission Moirangthem Ibohal, MLA N Mangi, former Minister Dr M Nara, etc were also among other dignitaries who were present and paid floral tributes to Hijam Irabot, a pioneering leader of the party.
