Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) Moreh Block and All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) Chandel district drew attention of the State Government regarding sorry state of Moreh Higher Secondary School.
While speaking in a press conference conducted at AMSU headquarters today, KSO Moreh Block President Seithong Haokip said that Moreh High School was upgraded to a higher secondary school in 2008.The school has 700 students and 24 teachers on contract basis now.
He added that KSO Moreh Block and AMSU Chandel district had jointly submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister highlighting various plights faced by the school some time back.
Immediate construction of culvert which is on the approach road, appointment of Principal or Principal-in-charge and posting of clerk were the main demands highlighted in the memorandum.
However, the Government has not taken up any step to redress these problems so far, he added.
Saying that Education Minister L Jayantakumar has assured them to appoint the vacant posts and look into other problems being faced in the school during a meeting today he added that the student bodies would be compelled to initiate agitation if the assurance is not change into action.
AMSU Chandel district General Secretary Saikhom Santosh and President Kh Amuchou Meitei were also present in the press conference.
