Imphal, April 22 2026:
The Foothills Naga Coordination Committee (FNCC) has announced to resume its indefinite bandh across all fobthill Naga areas, effective from midnight on April 23 .
In a statement, the FNCC explained that the decision was made due to the "continued failure" of the State Government to honour and implement the provisions of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed in February.
The bandh will include restrictions on movement and economic activities and will remain in effect until further notice.
The FNCC has urged the Government to act urgently and sincerely to fulfill its commitments, warning that any further delays will cause unnecessary inconvenience to the public.
The FNCC also urged all concerned to cooperate and maintain peace and discipline throughout the duration of the bandh.
Notably, the FNCC had suspended its blockade after a series of meetings and discussions initiated by Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho.
The MoA to lift the blockade was signed at Dikho's official residence in Lamphel on February 21, in the presence of Government representatives.
As per the MoA, both FNCC and the Government mutually agreed that no unauthorised road construction would be allowed in Naga-inhabited areas.
The agreement also outlined that legal action would be taken following due verification of any illegal or unauthorised roads or names of roads.
Additionally, the signatories agreed that the designated camps of Kuki militant groups under the Suspension of Operations (SoO) pact should not be established, located, or allowed to function within or near Naga-inhabited areas.
It was also stipulated that no militant groups whether under SoO or not would be permitted to operate in Naga-inhabited areas.
