Ukhrul, July 18 2024: The Kachai Village Authority has strongly condemned the uploading of fabricated information in the Jal Jeevan Mission website which claims 612 out of 718 households (85.24%) in the village have Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTCs) .

This follows recent disclosure that Paorei and Varangalai hamlets in Ukhrul have no household tap water connection while the official website of JJM listed several hundreds of households as beneficiaries.

Calling for removal of the false figures, the Kachui VA has threatened legal action against the department concerned otherwise.

Addressing the media at a press conference held at Ukhrul town, Wormihor Lolly Vashum, secretary, Kachai VA expressed dissatisfaction with the implementing agency (PHED) for providing misleading information and defying the villagers by posting a concocted FHTCs beneficiary list.

Wormihor clarified that the JJM project began in 2022 under which two reservoir tanks and three distributor tanks were constructed in the village.

However laying of pipe lines and tap connection is yet to be initiated, he informed.

He further clarified that there are no tap water connections and hand washing facilities in the village schools and Anganwadi centres till date.

Kachui VA member KA Mayonsing pointed out that they have found many mistakes and irregularities in the official website of JJM concerning Kachai village information and data.

The website has listed inaccurate information regarding the village headman, VWSC members, and plumber/lineman responsibilities, he added.

According to the website, the uploaded status of tap water connections in Kachai village stands at 612 households or 85.24 % completed, whereas the JJM project is only at the initial stage with no work done on laying of pipelines or tap connections, he maintained.

The Kachai VA stated that wrong information uploaded on the Government website has caused confusion and serious issues leading to public distrust with the VA leaders.

In order to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of JJM, the Kachai VA demanded immediate removal of the misleading data.
