Children's Day celebrated widely with gaiety, fervour

Joining the rest of the county, Children's Day was celebrated widely in the State on Friday with gaiety and fervour, honoring the spirit and creativity of childhood.
Children's Day is celebrated every year on November 14 to commemorate the birth anniversary of the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
The Day aims to raise awareness about the rights, education, and welfare of children.
Today, the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, organised a special Children's Day Celebration cum Sports Meet for internally displaced children staying at various relief camps across the State.
The event, held at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium witnessed the enthusiastic participation of children staying in relief camps from across Imphal East, Imphal West, Thoubal, Kakching and Bishnupur districts.
Inaugurating the Children's Day Celebration cum Sports Meet, Robert Kshetrimayum, Secretary (Social Welfare), Manipur, expressed happiness in seeing the children who have been displaced by the ongoing conflict, participating in various activities and enjoying themselves.
"Children naturally love to play, and the Sports Meet will provide an excellent platform for promoting their overall development", he added.
Robert Kshetrimayum also led the gathering in taking a pledge against drugs.
Anna Arambam, Director, Department of Social Welfare, shared that sports offer children significant benefits, including improved physical health, enhanced mental well-being, and the development of social skills like teamwork, communication, and resilience.
Entertainment programmes and distribution of prizes to the children were the other highlights of the event.
Moreover, the Department of Social Welfare also celebrated Children's Day at Ideal Blind School in Takyelpat by distributing food, sports and musical items to children staying at Special Schools and Children Homes.
The children were from BB Paul Mental School, Mongsangei; Government Deaf & Mute School, Takyelpat; Government Children Home, Charangpat; Government Specialized Adoption Agency, Thoubal; Government Specialized Adoption Agency, Chandel; Government Specialized Adoption Agency, Imphal East; Government Observation Home, Takyelpat; and Ideal Blind School, Takyelpat.
Department of Social Welfare's Director Anna Arambam, Joint Director Keisam Jiteshore, Deputy Director K Dhaneshwar and other offcial & staff of the department were present at the event.
Assam Rifles
In a spirited display of unity, creativity and youthful energy, the Assam Rifles on Friday celebrated Children's Day by organising vibrant programmes across the Imphal valley, bringing together students, teachers, villagers and Assam Rifles personnel.
As per a release issued by HQ IGAR(South), at Komlakhong in Imphal West district, 30 students from Moral Guidance School participated in a cheerful gathering that featured engaging games such as musical chairs and handicap races.
The activities encouraged teamwork, confidence and healthy competition, leaving the children visibly delighted and inspired.
Simultaneously, at Singjamei, the Company Operating Base hosted 57 students, school staff and locals under the outreach initiative "A Day with Company Commander".
The event, held as part of the Children's Day celebrations, focused on career opportunities in the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, motivating the youth to consider a future in uniform.
The interaction fostered mutual respect and a spirit of camaraderie between the troops and the community.
IWCDC
Children's Day was also celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Punya Children Home for Girls, Integrated Women & Children Development Centre (IWCDC) in Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai on Thursday.
The celebration began with the singing of the State Song by the children staying in the Home.
The children also enthralled the gathering with various entertainment activities and dance/song performances.
At the event, IWCDC chief functionary Anine Mangsatabam said that the Children Home was founded by her mother Late Arambam Punyabati Devi in 1980.She also shared that every year, Children's Day is celebrated at the Home on November 12 to commemorate the birth anniversary of her deceased mother.
