Imphal, May 24 2010:
Residents of Ethai area in Bishnupur district today caught a 25 old woman who allegedly tried to take away an 18-year old girl to handover to an underground outfit.
Achom Naobi (25) daughter of A Manimohon of Ethai Mayai Leikai was caught by the residents while she was allegedly tried to take away Laishram Ichan alias Purnima (18) daughter of L Maipak of Ethai Bazar Mayai Leikai.
The matter came to light when Ichan was refused to recruit by the authority of PREPAK outfit observing her poor health condition yesterday at a house at Pourabi under Lamlai police station.
Naobi called out Echan from her home on May 17 last to meet at Kwakeithel in Imphal to come on the next day.
They met at Keishampat as planned and proceeded to Moreh after catching a tata sumo.
After six day gap, Naobi returned home without Echan.
When whereabouts of Echan was asked by her family, Naobi refused to disclose stating that she did not know her even though they were neighbours.
Meanwhile, Echan who was studying in Standard-IX was dropped at a house at Pourabi by some unknown persons said to be activists of PREPAK saying that her health is not fit for joining the outfit.
Family members took back her today from the house where she was left.
When family members asked her about the incident, she refused to say, instead insisted to ask to Naobi.
While the family and villagers were keeping a view of suspicion on Naobi, troops of 33 AR posting at Kumbi Setpur came to the nabbed Echan.
