Imphal, May 24 2010:
Educational institutions in hill districts of the state will remain close on the days on which polling is to be held for the District Councils, according to an order issued by the under secretary, General Administrative Department (GAD), government of Manipur today.
As per the order, educational institutions in Sadar Hills, Chandel and Churachandpur where the first phase of polling is scheduled on May 26 while those institutes in Senapati, Ukhrul and Tamenglong on June 2, the day on which polling to second phase will be held.
The order also declared public holiday on these today dates for the banks, financial institutions located within the said autonomous district councils.
Employees of government, bank and private undertakings serving elsewhere but resident of the said autonomous district councils will be allowed to avail special casual leaves on May 26 and June 2 respectively.
