Thoubal, July 18 2024:
In yet another case of people standing up against unbearable monetary demands, the teaching and non-teaching staff of Kakching Khunou College staged a sit-in protest in front of the college gate at Umathel decrying disturbances in the education sector.
The protest was organised by the Kakching Khunou College Employees Welfare Association (KKCEWA) calling for an end to such unmanageable monetary demands.
Speaking by the sideline of the protest, Dr Longjam Ibochoubi Singh, secretary, KKCEWA revealed that recent unbearable monetary demands by different organisations have disturbed the academic atmosphere at the College as distressed teachers face struggles in teaching the students properly while the Principal and other non-teaching staff grapple to perform their designated duties.
Frustrated by such disruptions in an educational zone, the sit-in protest was staged, he said.
Ibochoubi maintained that the teaching and non-teaching staff have no objections against handing out donations they can afford, as they have done in the past to help relief camp inmates and others.
He assured that such help will continue.
However, he railed against unbearable monetary demands which are beyond their means.
With this, he urged all concerned to help the teachers and staff to perform their duties and teach students with a peaceful mind.
