Ningol Khut Manipur celebrates fifth foundation day

The 5th foundation day celebration of Ningol Khut Manipur, a literary organization formed exclusively by women writers, was held today at Khorirol Sanglen, Wangjing.
Paying floral tributes to the photo of eminent writer Khaidem Pramodini Devi marked the opening of the programme where the main event was the presentation of awards and titles presented by Ningol Khut Manipur, Wangjing.
Deputy Director, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department, Md Zakir Hussain graced as the chief guest of the programme while Ningol Khut Manipur president, Khundongbam Gunamani Leima and Assistant Director, Art and Culture Department, Haobam Chitra Devi graced as the president and guest of honour respectively.

In today's programme, the title 'Khorirol Lamjing Athoiba Mingthol' was conferred to renowned writers Moirangthem Rajendra, Tongbram Babulal, Yengkhom Indira and Kartik Maiba while the title 'Khori Leima Henthoibi' was conferred to Khwairakpam Sunita Devi and Dr Nongmaithem Pramodini Devi.
Apart from the above, 'Khaidem Pramodini Ningsing Khorirol Mana' was awarded to Loukrakpam Ibemcha Devi.
The award is presented by Moirangthem Rajendra.
While the award 'Yumnam Keinahal Aebee - Eehul Shakhang Mana" was confered to Abujam Ibohal Luwang.
The award is presented by Yumnam Uttambala in the name of her late mother. Both the awards carry a cash prize of Rs 5,000, a certificate and a shawl each.
It is worth noting that Ningol Khut Manipur Wangjing is formed by women writers to encourage budding women writers in the State to pen prominent literary works and contribute to the upliftment of literature in the State.
The organization has 41 women writers now.
Speaking as the chief guest, Md Zakir Hussain maintained that the aspects of a society are reflected in the literary works developed by the writers.
These literary works contribute majorly in tackling many issues in the society, he added.
Khundongbam Gunamani Leima while addressing the gathering, recalled the incidents which led to the existence of Ningol Khut Manipur and expressed gratitude to all the well wishers who have been extending support and cooperation to the organization.
Stating that Manipur has been witnessing an increase in the number of women writers, Haobam Chitra expressed belief that these writers will play a vital role in uplifting the literature arts through their works.
The programme was also attended by many literature enthusiasts and well-wishers.
