Speaking to media persons at Mother's Care and Children Hospital, Sagolband Moirang Leirak today, AHPI Manipur Chapter president Dr Kh Ratankumar said that patients undergoing treatment in the hospital endured a very difficult and traumatic situation when tear gas shells landed at the hospital on April 18 night.
He also condemned the Tronglaobi incident.
A two-month old baby was being taken down from a hospital when tear gas shells landed at the hospital.
Moreover, a one-year old child from Ukhrul was being given emergency treatment in the emergency room.
As a tear gas shell landed at the gate of the hospital, the child was shifted from the emergency room to PICU.
Another child, a heart patient who was admitted in the private ward on the first floor, was given emergency treatment for almost half an hour as he was shocked and traumatised by the firing of tear gas shells, Dr Ratankumar said.
He said that the hospital's ambience was severely affected by the incident.
Dr Ratankumar appealed to security forces to see that such incidents do not happen again in areas where there are hospitals.
He pointed out that it is the duty of the Government and security forces to see that hospitals are not harmed or disturbed.
Instead of firing tear gas shells, security forces should have protected the hospital, he said.
Dr Ratankumar said that they have already submitted a representation regarding the incident to the Commissioner (Home).

Dr Ratankumar appealed to all concerned not to hinder movement of healthcare providers and members of the general public taking patients to of back from hospitals.
