VC looks to take MU to higher level

Manipur University (MU) Vice Chancellor Prof Naorem Lokendra has expressed his willingness to seize all opportunities to transform MU into a thriving and vibrant institution.
Addressing the launch function of a 10 day book fair as chief guest at the auditorium complex of MU today, he continued that they at MU have been brainstorming ways to make the varsity campus a more vibrant and dynamic space for learning.
The book fair is being organised by Unity Uplift Foundation (UUF), Imphal West and College Development Council under the sponsorship of National Book Trust.
Saying that the COVID pandemic had a profound impact on students' attendance and behaviour in colleges and universities, he added that attendance rates were significantly lower during and after the pandemic.
Furthermore, many students became reluctant to leave their hostel rooms, he said and maintained that most of these students were addicted to their smartphones.
He, meanwhile, said that two book fairs were held at MU last year.
Prof Lokendra emphasized that a university's success is measured by its students' research output and placement records.
To achieve this, he stated that Manipur University has been actively working to provide all sorts of opportunities to its students.
