Imphal, May 19 2026:
The All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) has once again called upon the Government of India to stop its alleged proxy war in Manipur.
As a part of their mass protest movement, AMUCO, All Manipur Women's Voluntary Association (AMAWOVA), Committee on Human Rights (COHR), Manipuri Students Federation (MSF) and Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur (PLMPAM) organised a protest demonstration at Lilong Bazar.
The protest demonstration was supported by All Manipur Meitei Pangal Clubs' Organisation (AMPACO), Committee on Peaceful Coexistence Manipur (CPCM), LUC and Pangal Students' Organisation.
The protesters used placards and festoons which read as "Withdraw central forces who have failed to protect innocent life and property", "SoO and non-SoO militants should stop all acts of killing and arson", "Arrest and punish perpetrators of Tronglaobi killings", "Arrest and Punish perpetrators of TM Kasom ambush", "We will decide our future", etc .
Speaking to media persons by the sideline of the protest demonstration, AMUCO president Sorokhaibam Sanjoy said that the protest demonstration was organised in denunciation of the highly obnoxious and diabolic activities being perpetrated by the Government of India in Manipur.
The Government of India, in collusion with Kuki militants (both SoO and non-SoO), has been orchestrating large-scale killings and widespread violence in the State.
Asking the Government of India to stop colluding with SoO and non-SoO Kuki militants, and bring an end to the protracted violence, the AMUCO president warned of strong mass agitation against the Government if the Government of India does not stop the violence immediately.
He also called for an immediate end to the alleged State terrorism and proxy war.
At the same time, all the Central forces who are currently deployed in the State in the name of protecting citizens and their properties must be withdrawn without any further delay, Sanjoy said.
He said that the State Government too has huge responsibilities in containing the violence reported from different parts of the State.
Political leaders of the State must know that protecting Manipur is far more important than saving their seats of power, Sanjoy said before appealing to the State Government leaders to stop acting mute and blind.
He said that the Government of India has been consistently undertaking several policies and activities which seemed to be aimed at destroying Manipur.
The AMUCO president asked the Government of India to cease all such activities.
The more the Government of India tries to destroy Manipur, the more will the people of Manipur move toward self determination, he warned.
Saying that it's time for all the people to come together and work collectively in order to protect Manipur, the AMUCO president appealed to the Meitei Pangal community to take key roles in saving Manipur.
He appealed to the Meitei Pangal community to join the fight against the proxy war being waged by the Government of India after giving arms and military training to Kuki narco-terrorists.
Sanjoy said that it's time to teach the Government of India a befitting lesson.
CPCM convenor Sajad Phuyamayum asserted those people who have been working exclusively only for the interests of their respective communities can never represent Manipur.
Manipur is witnessing communal conflicts and clashes at the moment but it is unlikely that the Government of India will ever bring a solution to the crises, he said.
The State Government must convene a joint meeting of all stakeholders, communities and CSOs and adopt a decision to fight the external forces collectively, Sajad said.
COHR Chairman Phulindro Konsam said that the Government of India has been plotting unceasingly to create divisions and hatred among the different communities of Manipur.
The Government of India has been scheming to destroy the integrity of Manipur and break the State into pieces, he said.
He accused the Government of India of abetting Kuki narco-terrorists in unleashing large scale killings and widespread violence in the State.
Pointing out that Central forces deployed in the State have failed miserably to protect life and property of citizens, Phulindro called upon all sections of people to demand in one voice immediate withdrawal of the Central forces.
