Meghen also alleged that the Government of India has been plotting to suppress the liberation movement in Manipur through various tactics.
Regarding the May 20 incident at Gwaltabi, where personnel from the 4th Mahar Regiment ordered the removal or concealment of Manipur signage from a State Transport bus, Meghen claimed that this action was a Government ploy to foster animosity between the Meitei and Naga communities.
He urged the public to be vigilant about the alleged Government of India scheme.
Meghen, meanwhile, said that Arambam Samarendra was the founder general secretary of UNLF.
Describing Samarendra as a multifaceted individual, he said that Samarendra was a talented dramatist, writer and playwright who championed women's empowerment and economic development in Manipur, among other causes.
He said that Samarendra left a lasting legacy before his passing on June 10, 2000.Acting chairman of Pambei led UNLF N Joy Meetei also attended the programme.
