District Administration Senapati takes up various relief measures for flood affected persons

The District Administration, Senapati has taken up various relief measures for the flood affected persons in the recent flood due to incessant heavy rain in Senapati district.
The heavy rainfall that began on the evening of May 30, 2025 resulted in widespread flooding in various areas of the district and has caused havoc to the villagers, however people were safely evacuated to temporary shelter homes designated by the District Administration.
Temporary shelter homes are set- up at various location across the district headquarter and blocks of Senapati district including Skill Cum Rural Entrepreneurship Development Centre, ADC, Senapati, ADC Conference Hall, ADC Guest House, 14 in Purul Sub-division, 15 in Lairouching, 15 in Chillivai Phabung, 23 in Willong, 20 in Paomata, 12 in Tadubi and 6 in Senapati.
Relief measures were also taken up by the District Administration for the evacuating families and individuals were provided with basic amenities and care such as drinking water, rice, dal, oil, clothing, and other commodities.
Various departments also come to the aid for easing the damage caused by heavy rainfall by dredging and removal of silt and debris in flood affected areas and issue of drinking water and bleaching powder at various locations at Angkailondi, Viewland, Council Colony, Vakho and more.
Medical department also constituted medical response teams to tackle any medical emergency arising from weather related disasters.
Following the guidelines issued by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), the District Emergency Operation is activated and its designated Control room is located at Room no 48 of Block A 2nd Floor in the Mini Secretariat Complex, Senapati and the helpline number is 7628992200 .
The Chairperson DDMA further urged all nominated nodal officers of all line departments to coordinate with the DEOC support team and to be available and prepared to respond promptly during times of alert.
Around 61 localities have been affected and 1445 houses have been damaged though no case of death and missing but lost livestock have been reported.
354 persons have been evacuated to temporary shelter homes.
It may be also mentioned that the District Administration is constantly monitoring the landslides and flood affected areas and continuing its work in clearing blockages along National Highways and Inter-Village Roads.
Earlier, the Chairperson DDMA/ District Magistrate of Senapati, Mamoni Doley, IAS issued weather alert warning, closure of educational institutions for two days and order against hoarding, stockpiling and price manipulation in the district.
