Imphal, February 02, 2011:
The CDSU shut down Government offices in Churachandpur district since yesterday in what it said is a necessary move taken up against the Government for continually ignoring the demands that ATSUM has raised.
Impartiality in implementation of reservation and revocation of the State Cabinet's decision with regard to appointment of senior MCS officers as Executive Director of the DRDAs have been cited for the agitation, by Lalkhohao Chongloi, CDSU president.
'For the record, we are not against senior MCS officers, but against the State Government's policy,' our Churachandpur correspondent S Singlianmang Guite quoted Chongloi as saying.
He also contended that the agitation was taken up in consultation with student bodies in other hill districts viz Ukhrul, Senapati, Chandel and Tamenglong.
As a result of the shut-down, Government offices including the DC and SDO offices wore a deserted look today.
