Dedicated force set to replace SSG

The dedicated state force is ready to safeguard the Chief Minister and his bungalow from SSG of CISF.
The handing over of charge is likely to take place in a few days, a reliable source said.
The dedicated force set up especially to guard Manipur Chief Minister will replace the Special Security Group (SSG) of the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) currently guarding the Chief Minister.
A force of 75 personnel including three ladies and a supervising officer (SO) of the SSG have been in charge for the last two years to protect the CM and his bungalow following repeated threats from underground elements.
Its period, extended once, expired on December 31, 2010. A 74 personnel strength of the state including two Jemandars were sent to Haryana for further training in NSG Training Centre in the first week of January 2011.They had already completed a Special Capsule Course on VIP Protection here in Manipur.
After the completion of the special training the team is on its way to Imphal, an official source said adding that they will take over charge as soon as SSGs are relieved from their post.
The process will be completed within this month, the source disclosed without mentioning the exact date of taking over of charge.
The state police department has also sent selected personnel for special training at NSG hubs located at various places of the country.
Some of them are already in the NSG training centre, Kolkata.
The personnel include bomb detection and disposal squads, the source father disclosed.
