SP cites conspiracy in abduction case

Bishnupur district Superintendent of Police (SP) K Jayanta today claimed that supervisor of Guwahati-based BCL Security Private Limited namely Moirangthem Boboy (30) of Kumbi was not abducted for ransom by the Nongdren Khomba group of the proscribed KCP (MC) but he voluntarily stayed at a hideout of the armed group to stage abduction drama.
Speaking to newspersons at his office today, Jayanta informed that based on the FIR report filed at Kumbi police station Bishnupur district police along with Imphal West district police and troops of 33 Assam Rifles made all out effort to trace Boboy.
He revealed that upon getting information about release of Boboy by the said UG group yesterday, the 30-year old, son of (L) M Khamba was summoned today for questioning during which Boboy confessed to have stayed at a hideout of the outfit to stage the abduction drama.
Boboy reportedly disclosed of leaving Imphal for Guwahati in an Indigo flight on February 11 and then flew to Bagdogra (West Bengal).
From Bagdogra, he took a bus ride upto Kathmandu where he moved to a hideout of the UG group, narrated the SP added that Boboy returned to Imphal in another Indigo flight.

The plot to present the case as abduction for ransom was hatched in connivance with cadres of the UG group while he was at a hideout of the KCP in Nepal, Jayanta maintained.
Having settled everything the abducted person (Boboy) returned home from nepal by air, the SP informed adding that on further investigation involvement of two other individuals, including a woman, in the abduction drama came to light.
Identifying the two persons as N Tamochou and Romabati Devi, both from Kumbi, he informed that the two are now in the custody of the police for the role in enacting the while abduction episode.
Boboy, Tamochou and Romabati were also paraded before the newspersons at the police station.
Mention may be that Kumbi locals enforced bandh and tried to burn down a mobile phone tower in protest against Boboy's abduction as well as alleging inefficiency of the State machinery to secure his release.
