Bombs found at Public Hospital, Hatta

Imphal, February 23 2011:
A hand grenade suspected to have been lobbed by unidentified armed persons as threat over monetary demand was found at the premises of Public Hospital located at Hatta under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East district.
According to police report, the bomb was spotted at around 9.30 am today.
Subsequently, police retrieved the bomb.
It is said that one faction of armed group PULF threatening to close down the hospital was published in the media sometime earlier.
People of the surrounding areas have protested against the incident of lobbing a bomb inside the hospital.
On the other hand, bomb experts of the State Police Department safely exploded a hand grenade which was found near the Yurembam Makha Maning Leikai residential gate of Laishram Ongbi Chaobihal Devi (46), who is the Pradhan of Yurembam Gram Panchayat.
The hand grenade was suspected to have been left behind by two unidentified youth who came riding a Honda Activa last night.
Police retrieved the bomb and exploded it safely at the nearby Heingang Loukon.
In protest against the incident of bomb threat, womenfolk of the area staged a Wakat Meepham today.
It is said that the Pradhan Chaobihal has not received any threat or monetary demand from any UG group.
However, her name had been once mentioned along with BDO Rajendra by one UG group who threatened them through media.
