One injured in Chairel Mangjing gunfight

Imphal, July 12 2023: At least one village volunteer was reported to have been injured in a gunfight between suspected Kuki militants and village volunteers guarding Meitei villages in Chairel Mangjing in Khoijumantabi on Wednesday night.

According to a report, Kuki militants fired several rounds in Chairel Mangjing and Khoijumantabi area at around 6pm Wednesday.

The village volunteers guarding the Meitei villages in the area also retaliated against the Kuki militants.

During the exchange, one village volunteer suffered injury, while three Kuki militants are suspected to have been killed or injured.

On the other hand, a local-made bomb was found by Kumaon Regiment at an area of Heikol around 7.30 am Wednesday.

The bomb was detonated safely at the location.
