Ukhrul, December 04 2015 :
The PPPV development committee, an association of four Ukhrul villages Phungcham, Paorei, Peh and Varangalai has expressed disappointment with the work agency/contractors engaged in the ongoing PMGSY road construction from Halang junction to Phungcham area of Ukhrul district for failing to black top the road on time, Mungchan Zimik reports.
Speaking at a press meet held today at UDWJA office, PPPV chairman Ngasoching said work order for black topping Halang junction to Phungcham area road was issued in September last year.
As per the PMGSY guidelines, the work execution should start within 7 days after receiving work orders and should be completed within 18 months.
Till date, even after repeated approach by the people, the construction works have not commenced, the PPPV chairman said.
The road is one of the shortest routes that connect the villagers with the neighbouring State - Nagaland.
In November some machineries were brought to the construction site without informing the area villagers.
The committee has alleged that the agency intends to phase out the remaining months and draw bills for the project by deceiving villagers with excuses like weather condition and others.
PPPV has warned to launch intense form of agitation against the negligence shown by work agency/contractor in case the blacktopping work is not taken up immediately.
