Annual Sports Meet-2016 Newmai calls for sports culture

The annual sports meet -2016 of Liangah school,Taimei HQs was held recently with the students of the school presenting songs and dances.
Speaking at the occasion, social worker Wilubou Newmai who attended the opening ceremony as the chief guest said that decent roads and bridges, hospitals, schools and good teachers for rural children, electricity and mobile phone services are basic requirements to emerge as a sporting power-house.
Wilubou Newmai said that "there is an urgent need to create a true sporting culture in our land in order to ensure that our sport loving people play at the highest level" and added "this can only come about through adequate funding and sponsorship."
The chief guest further said that sporting excellence is linked to the empowerment of a country and sports culture should go hand in hand with other indicators of development.
Speaking on other issues, Wilubou said that there is almost no basic infrastructure and the education system is still primitive and added that this is the age computer age but the people still measure literacy with the question of whether one can sign or not.
Education is the key for development and there is a need to make learning innovative and fun for the young children, he observed.
Wilubou Newmai added that basic development work and empowerment of people can be possible only when there is good leadership in governance.
