The retried IPS Thokchom Radheshyam formally joined BJP Manipur Pradesh today.
He will contest election from Heirok constituency in the forthcoming coming Manipur Legislative Assembly election.
The retired IPS officer was accompanied by supporters from his constituency who came in over 2000 vehicles, while coming to officially enrolled as a member to the BJP.
As the number of vehicles was outnumbered for the roads in Imphal leading to the BJP Manipur Pradesh Office at Nutyapat Chuthek, a strong team of traffic police stopped the vehicles at Canchipur area and prevented them from crossing beyond.
Later, the traffic police allowed some vehicles to move along with Thokchom Radheshyam.
Around 200 supporters accompanied the candidate aspirant to Nitaipat Chuthek of BJP office.
Speaking to the media persons at BJP office, the former Superintendent of Police elaborated the reasons for joining politics.
"I want a collective development besides restoring peace in the region and also to provide proper benefits to the youth of the state particularly to those living in Heirok Assembly constituency", Radheshyam said.
He further added that locals of Heirok want positive changes in various development fields however, Heirok is still far behind when compare with other area of the state.
The cop turns politician assured winning in the upcoming assembly poll stating that after his announcement to go for election many individuals who were once congressmen had left the party and joined the BJP.
"As of today 15 thousand people from heirok Assembly constituency have been enrolled in the BJP", Radheshyam added.
