State boxers settled for one silver, six bronze medals

Imphal, December 30 2010:
All the seven state boxers who entered into the semi final rounds, have lose their bouts in the 1st Sub Junior Boys' National Boxing Championships, 2010 jointly organised by the Bengal Amateur Boxing Federation and Kolkata Municipal Corporation under the aegis of Indian Boxing Federation as the championship concluded today.
Manipur won one silver and six bronze as the championship concluded today.
Services emerged as overall team champion with eight medals which include five gold, two silver and one bronze medal.
Haryana was in the second place with seven medals which include three gold, two silver and two bronze.
The boxing state participate the championship with great hope to sweep overall team champion's title.
Unfortunately only one boxer out of the seven semi finalists managed to enter into the final round.
But he too loses in the final bout and settled for silver.
Other six boxers who have entered into the semi finals settled for bronze medals.
L Chinglensana (54 kg U-15) won the semi final bout against Maharashtra with a lead of 3-0.But he lost in the final bout to Haryana by 2-1 and bagged the lone silver medal of Manipur.
Manoj (32 kg U-13), Johnson (36 kg U-13), Thouyangba (42kg U-14), Md Ibrahism (48 kg U-14), Ngouba (50 kg U-15) and Naoba (57 kg U-15) won the six bronze medals of Manipur in the championship.
Jiten (52 kg U-15) of Manipur also lost in the quarter final bout today.
It may be mentioned that Wattaba (32 kg U-14) and Dinesh (46 kg U-14) also lost in the pre quarter final bouts on December 28 .
L Jiban and T Seityabanta were the team coach and team manager of the state team.
The state team will arrived Imphal on Januanry 1 next year.
