Awareness programme on labour welfare

The Department of Labour and Employment will be organizing a One Day Awareness Programme on Labour Welfare in association with Hiyanglam Area Nupi Marup on December 31st at Hiyanglam, under the 20 point programme of the department.
Provisions for conditions of work, minimum wages, equal remuneration of men and women workers, recovery of money due to workers from employers, employment security under the labour laws and welfare benefits of building workers, under Building and Other Construction Workers (RECS) Act 1996 will be discussed mainly in the awareness programme.
RK Balaram, Senior Rural Labour Inspector (HQ), will speak on the various topics of 'Social Security for Unorganised Workers under UWSS Act, 2008', 'Welfare Benefits of Building Workers under Building and Other Construction Workers (REC) Act 1996', Registration of unorganized workers as beneficiaries for the social security benefits and registration of building workers as beneficiaries of Welfare benefits of building workers', 'Child Labour and Bonded Labour' and 'Prevention of sexual harassment of women at the workplace' .
H.Shamu, Senior Rural Labour Inspector, Thoubal CD Block, will speak on 'Minimum wages and fixation of wages by agreement or otherwise at the time of recruitment/negotiation for employment', Conditions of work of workers' and 'Employment security of workers.
(Workmen's compensation, gratuity, termination of employment by giving prior notice and compensation thereof, provident fund, re-employment of retrenched workers)' .
S Birlak, Senior Rural Labour Inspector, Thoubal CD Block, will also speak on 'Payment of equal remuneration to male and female workers under ER Act 1976' and Recovery of money due to workers from employers' .
