Imphal, December 30 2010:
After the success of their maiden stage play, Ashang Eina Aton last year, artistes of Zingko, a theatre repertoire based at Ringui (Tongou) in Ukhrul district have presented their second stage play, Khamakhar Shiyam (Cultural taboo) winning their hearts of the people.
Based on the Tangkhul customary law of forbidding marriage between man and woman of the same blood line and killing of the child born from such marriage, Khamakhar Shiyam was staged at the multipurpose building of Ringui Baptist Church on the night of December 28 .
It may be recalled here that the artistes of Zingko have undergone a 45-day long theatre workshop cum production under the sponsorship of National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi last year.
The workshop was conducted under the guidance of Thanilleima who is the first woman NSD graduate from the North East region.
At the end of the workshop, the artistes have successfully performed, Ashang Eina Aton, a drama based on the Tangkhul folktale of immortal love story between Ashang and Aton.
Despite being amateur artists, the performance of the play at Imphal as well as at New Delhi have received rave reviews.
After Ashang Eina Aton, Khamakhar Shiyam is the second production of Zingko.
Ashang Zimic has directed the play and the script has been written by Alang Ahum.
