Bronze Medalist Sanathoi, officials & players of Asian Games hailed with rousing welcome

Players and officials who participated in the ongoing 17th Asian Games were felicitated by the people of the state with rousing welcome on their arrival at Imphal International Airport, here today.
Sanathoi who bagged 1 bronze medal in Wushu event, Wangkhem Sandhyarani, Sapna and officials who took part in the championship were honoured by putting garland on their necks and later on, they were taken to their respective homes by boarding on a Jeep.
The reception function was attended by the members of Manipur Wushu Association, players of SAI NERC Imphal and coaches.
Slogans like 'Long live Wushu' were also raised by felicitating people.
Being the first Manipuri to win a medal in the Asian Games at Incheon, Sanathoi wanted to give all credits to her parents and coaches who had helped her in winning such prestigious medal.
Expressing regret for failing to achieve gold medal in the championship, Sanathoi said, 'I did not have much time for preparation and consultation with coaches'.
She however believed that she would surely win a gold medal in the upcoming Sanshou championship due to be held in Indonesia.
