Neglect of Hills alleged

The present ambiguous scenario in the existing six Autonomous District Councils in Manipur exist because of the negligence of the hill areas in all developmental fronts, alleged Churachandpur District Autonomous Council Chairman, Langkhanpau Guite while claiming that the tribal people have been seriously deprived of their rights by the majority community of the Manipur valley.
In an interaction at the District Council office, Tuibuong in Churachandpur, the Chairman said that the state government conducted the election to Members of District Council as per Manipur (Hill Areas) District council, third amendment Act 2008 where in power to 26 subjects were utilized under section 29 in sub-section (I) of the principal act.
However more than half of the subject has not been devolved till date, he said.
The government has failed to address the plight of the tribal people of the hill areas in all walks of life, he added.
