IGAR(s) apprehends UG cadres

During a joint operation following specific reports regarding the movement of a UG cadres at Pallel Market, troops of the 6 DOGRA and 20 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) apprehended one KCP (MTF) cadre on Saturday, according to a release of IGAR (South) .
The apprehendee was identified as SS 0902 (Batch No 08), SS Pvt, Habibur Rehman alias Inaocha, aged 32 yrs, S/o Late Iboton, resident of Mayang Imphal, in Imphal west District.
Interrogations revealed that, he was involved in extortion related activities for his group in Chandel district.
One Pt 22 Pistol along with three live rounds and an extortion Note for Rupees 5 Lakhs were recovered from his possession.
He along with the recovered items has been handed over to the Kakching Police Station.
In another operation, troops of the 22 Assam Rifles of 28 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) along with a team of Kakching Police launched a joint operation at Kakching Lamkhai and apprehended one over ground worker of UKLF on Friday, added the release.
The arrested was identified as Moirangthem Thambal Singh, S/o Moirangthem Bokul Singh, aged 55 yrs, resident of Khangabok Makha Leikai, Thoubal district.
According to the release, he was involved in extortion related activities for his group in the garb his appointment as collector for Manipur Driver Welfare Association.
He has been delivering extortion notes for UKLF under assumed name of Pallel Timber Association.
Two rubber stamps (seal) one each embossed with "Manipur Driver Welfare Association" and Tera Lukram Leirak Machin, two mobile handsets, Rupees 5,000/-, and one cash receipt memo of Rs 2,000/-, was recovered from his possession.
The apprehendee along with the recovered items has been handed over to the Kakching Police Station.
Meanwhile, 24 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) organised a lecture on drug and alcohol abuse at Tamil Community Hall of Kwatha Village on Friday.
The programme was attended by 37 locals to include women and children of Kwatha village.
