National residential workshop concluded

A 6 day National Residential Workshop on Change begins with me under the theme "Transforming Education through Commitment" concluded today with a small valedictory function at the premises of the Institute of Rural Education (IRE), Wangjing.
The residential workshop which commenced from September 22 was organized by IRE Wangjing in association with Initiative & Intervention, New Delhi and Experimental Theatre Foundation (ETF), Mumbai.
Professor Lokendra Singh, Registrar, Manipur University; Dr Mahaveer Jain, Hononary Secretary General, Initiative of Intravention, New Delhi and Manjul Bhadradwaj, Chief Functionary & Founder, Theatre of Relevance (TOR), Mumbai graced the valedictory function as chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
N Rajiv Kumar Singh, Principal, Institute of Rural Education (IRE) Wangjing presided as the functional president.
Apart from speeches by dignitaries, the function also distributed certificates to B.Ed.
trainees who participated in the workshop.
Speaking on the occasion, Lokendra said after the Supreme Court constituted a High Power committee, teachers education has became a crucial component of government's Higher education policy.
Teacher's education which was once under the control of State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and District Institute of Education & Training (DIET) for a long time woud now come under Universities, he added.
Professor Singh further said that the Government of India has already instructed the beginning of teachers' education in all Central Universities of the country and revision of teachers education curriculum.
Moreover, the government has also initiated 2 years Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) and Master of Education (M.Ed) courses as well as integrated program after high school from the current academic session, Singh added.
The valedictory function was also attended by L Manao Singh, former board member of Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) and Kh Maniton Singh, retired Government school teacher besides executive committee members, faculties and trainees among others.
