Al-Ameen (Lilong) carved out a thrilling one-run win over CHAMP Cricket Club (Khagempali) in their Group B meeting in the 6th MNCA W Prahbala & W Ramananda Elite Tournament on Tuesday at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium.
Al-Ameen opted to bat first and garnered192/6 in the stipulated 40 overs.
Md Al Bashid top-scored for the Lilong squad with 56 off 62 balls, followed by Md Basir Rahman (46), Md Mustaque (31) and Md Safwan Khan (19) .
Nitesh Sedai was the pick of CHAMP's bowlers.
He claimed 3 wickets as Moirangthem Thomas, Thingbaijam Nicholson and Md Sultan Karim accounted for one each.
In reply, CHAMP had a promising start with a stand of 53 by openers Chingangbam Bonny (21 off 35 balls) and Pukhrambam Athouba (32 off 42 balls) but the following two batters could only make 14 runs combined.
Md Sultan Karim's knock of 69 after Nitesh Sedai's 23 revitalised CHAMP's chase but the duo's dismissal proved costly.
The Khagempali side rued their failure to make use of the last ball as they ended up losing by a whisker.
They were all out for 191 in 40 overs.
Md Noushad Ali and Najarul Islam shone with the ball for Al-Ameen.
The two bowlers finished with 3 wickets apiece as Nongjaimayum Md Narirshah Alam and Habibullah Ahammed bagged one each to help their side seal a thrilling one-run victory.
Md Noushad Ali, who took 3 wickets and scored 5 runs (not out), was named the man of the match.
