Police Badminton kicks off

Hosted by Manipur Police Department, the 6th All India Police Badminton Championship has begun along with participation by 23 units from today at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium.
The inaugural function of the championship was graced by PHE Minister Irengbam Hemochandra and Parliamentary Secretary in charge of Youth Affairs and Sports Mairenbam Prithviraj as chief guest and president respectively.
In all 147 players (7 women and 140 men) from 23 units from 19 states Police forces including CRPF, ITBF are participating in the championship which is divided into four groups.
With SSB, Punjab, Bihar and ITBF teams, host Manipur is in the group B of the championship.
In the first match of group B, Manipur defeated SSB by 2-0; Punjab by 2-0 (second match) and ITBF by again 2-0 (third match).
While in other matches of group B, ITBF defeated Bihar by 2-1 and SSB defeated Bihar by 2-0 .
In group A, Nagaland defeated CRPF by 2-1; Karnataka by Utter Pradesh in 2-0; Karnataka by Nagaland in 2-0; Utter Pradesh by CRPF in 2-0; Karnataka by CRPF in 2-0 and UP by Nagaland in 2-0 .
In group C, NSG defeated Maharashtra by 2-0; Andhra Pradesh by BSF in 2-1; Maharashtra by SPG in 2-0; Andhra Pradesh by NSG in 2-1 .
In group D, IB defeated Jammu by 2-0; Tamil Nadu by Mizoram in 2-0; IB by Madhya Pradesh in 2-1 .
