Imphal,June 04 2013:
Expressing deep resentment over the reports of some news agencies and newspapers with regard to the bandh news that were published in State dailies, the Kuki Students' Organisation, General Headquarters has clarified that there was no effect of the bandh in Churachandpur to that extent as reported by news agencies and 'biased' correspondents.
"Contrary to the reports, schools and offices remained opened, inter- district passenger buses, local auto-transport and other public transports rendered services as usual in the district headquarters as KSO and other like-minded student organisations had opposed the pseudo ATSUM bandh in the State.
Imphal to Churachandpur Bus Association and Winger Association can also be quizzed if they had any problem with their services during the 38 hours 'pseudo ATSUM' bandh to reach Churachandpur district headquarters," a KSO statement signed by its Vice-President (Adm) Mangcha Baite said.
"Perhaps there is little impact of the bandh at a place called New Lamka located approximately 3km away from the district headquarters, Tuibong which is almost negligible notwithstanding the reports published.
The KSO also fervently appealed editors of the State dailies to kindly cross check the authenticity of news reports especially the ones dispatched by news agencies in sensitive issues like this one to preserve the integrity of the press.
The KSO also expressed gratitude to all concerned in combating the menace of 'pseudo ATSUM while also expressing hope to see a genuine ATSUM installed within June as election commission with W Shinglai as the CEO has given maximum effort in conducting the pending ATSUM election.
