Woman dies at Sekmai

A woman who consumed some toxic substance allegedly unable to bear harassment by her husband has succumbed to the ill effects of the toxic substance.
Maibam (N) Ngairangbam (O) Subashini (35) of Nongpok Sekmai Makha Leikai, Imphal East district succumbed to the toxic substance at her home at about 9 am today.
Speaking to media persons at JNIMS mortuary, Subhashini's uncle Rajen said that Subhashini might have consumed pesticide in the morning of June 1, unable to bear harassment by her husband.
She was immediately taken to Yairipok CHC and then shifted to RIMS.
But her husband Ingocha and father-in-law Biramani took Subhashini home the same day without any advice of doctors.
As her condition deteriorated, Subhashini was taken to RIMS again on June 3.RIMS doctors referred her to Shija hospital where it was told that Subhashini's case was a hopeless one.
She succumbed to the toxic substance this morning.
It is said that Subhashini came to her parental home at Nongpok Sekmai Lila Kambong very often because of continuous harassment by her husband Ingocha.
On May 1, Ingocha threatened Subhashini saying that she would be hacked with a spade if she was found in their house when returned to the house.
Subhashini might have taken the extreme step unable to bear the continuous harassment of her husband, Rajen said.
Subhashini left behind two sons and a daughter.
