Imphal,June 04 2013:
The local clubs of Hatta Golapati area under the aegis of United Minuthong Golapati Development Committee (UMGDC) would verify all tenants in the area to prevent any unwanted incidents.
It may be mentioned that the Police have recovered some goods, which were looted from the truck of slain Assamese driver Kumud Ali, from a rented house in the locality recently.
Addressing media persons at Manipur Press Club yesterday, Secretary of UMGDC Haji Arafat Ali said that the Police have done a commendable job by apprehending the culprits in Kumud Ali's murder case.
However, the owner of the rented house Nasir Khan, who is an IRB personnel, had refused to come to the Committee's office when contacted to give a clarification on the incident.
The locality of Hatta Golapati has only 230 households.
However, almost every household in the locality rents out houses and the number of tenants has increased manifold.
Many unknown people are now staying in the locality with frequent involvement in unwanted incidents, Haji contended.
He further announced that the Committee would begin verification drive of the tenants with immediate effect, and appealed to the Police to render their valuable help in this drive.
The Committee would also render utmost support in demanding implementation of Inner Line Permit System in the State to check influx of illegal migrant workers.
Meanwhile, Minuthong Golapati Athletic Union, United Hatta Development Council, Minuthong Hatta Hafiz Social Welfare Union, Hatta Golapati Minority Social Welfare Organization and Golapati Women's Social Welfare have endorsed UMGDC in verifying the tenants in Hatta Golapati area.
